Photoshop will not open

Photoshop starts the opening process, but freezes at 'starting up plug-ins...' It is CS5 on a Mac OS X. I have tried shutting down and restarting.
 
Oooops you do not have it, so it means you did not install it ? In that case it could have been already corrupted.
 
Did you loose your installation DVD ? BTW did you deactivate your serial number before deinstallation ?
 
Damn it, I think you could find it on some of the software download sites, try to Google something like "Photoshop download". I hope that just deinstallation leaves the license on computer so the new installation should use the same serial number without any checking on Adobe web as for new install.
 
Ok, I couldn't find it, they're all CS6. Do you think I will have to purchase CS6 or could I just purchase the upgrade since I still have the serial number to CS5?
 
Hmm you can probably find a torrent download of CS5, that should work I'm pretty sure! :)

If you wanna upgrade to CS6 my guess would be that on the same computer the serial should work, BUT you need new serial for CS6 anyhow and I am afraid it may expect installed software. This question should be answered by salesman/shop, although even somebody here may know for sure.
I would download CS6 and try to install, since it may tell you whether it sees the old serial number or not.I would also
try to look for install DVD. Did you check adobe.com for trial version and did you ask your friends/colleagues/neighbors ?

I was not sure whether it is allowed to write about such sites here, but it is definitely a good way to go. Usually they have copy of legal software and crack separately, so you can use just the software together with your serial.
 
Im under the impression that torrents (usually being illegal downloading) was a crime here punishable by death (j/k) I had this problem on my old Dell with Illustrator. I had to just install it on my Alienware and now it all works fine. Im not saying go buy a new computer but maybe having it checked for viruses and/or corruped files wouldnt hurt.
 
Oh I'm truly sorry about posting a link about it then, I mean, p2p downloads are not ALWAYS illegal, but I can take the link down if it's against the rules :S?

And exactly as you say, that's what she could do! :) She just needs something like bitorrent to handle the download :D
 
I hope admins see it was in good intent so they will let us know and there would be no bloody executions here ;-)

Seriously though I would take your computer for a tune up before reinstalling it.
 
Ok First of all we will not be discussing how to download illegal versions any further on this thread.

That said if you have a genuine license Key then Adobe will point you to a download link back to CS3 these are not available through normal searches and adobe will only let you download the latest version in public view on there website.

We covered about torrents or any other illegal software downloading sites on 1 of my adobe training courses and there is mainly 2 forms of software for download the 1s leaked by adobe on purpose they have installed trackers so they can monitor the pirating of there software (what they do with this info I have no idea) But this is what determines there prices for next release and monitors how much money they are loosing from it and which Countries are the worse for it.

And then there are the hackers that download the trial versions they crack it and reupload it. However most of the time these hackers will have back door Trojans embedded into there software that will actually copy your genuine serial keys and reupload them to a database where they will be redistributed to other piraters usually with other info from your computer to. This is why virus detectors always flags things like key gens or as piraters call it a false positive.

The truth is that as soon as you activate it then that has opened up some form of gateway back home to send info back to whoever has set it up.

This is how if your lucky they make there money as it usually sends your email etc and that gets sold on to these mass advertising companies and voila you get your male enhancing performace drug emails and whatever other spam you get. This can also send back your contacts info as well on messaging or email address books.

And if you are not so lucky you get caught by adobe for downloading therer software illegally and redistributing it as you do when using torrents even if you do not know you are. simple really you download sections 10 people will download what you have downloaded so far then each of them will have a further 10 people downloading from them etc thats how a torrent works.

Or you get infected with viruses etc.

So fo yourself a favour speak to adobe and xplain your situation and I am sure they will help you out.
