Photoshop Saturation/Contrast problem?

Hey there,

I shall try explain a problem I am having with photoshop as best I can, with high hopes someone may be able to point me in the direction of fixing this mess.....hold tight haha!

I have 2 little grommits whom I love dearly however I have a hunch maybe some keys were pressed on my laptop when photoshop was open and a few things changed while mum was busy doing mum things. Or it could be something completely irrelevant to do with children, they are were just so guilty looking though haha. Coincide?

So my issue (which has only happened in the past week) is as follows.

I open a file in photoshop. The contrast and saturation are extremely high and incorrect to the nature of the saved photo.
My quick fix for this is to go to > View > Proof Colours.
This fixes that problem and my image is back to its normal self.

However I then want to go back into Filter > Camera Raw Filter to do some editing and the image goes back to its highly saturated/contrasted self.

Any help to get my image showing it's true saturations/contrast in photoshop and raw would be so greatly appreciated!

I can post images if it would be easier to understand.

Thanks a whole bunch in advance 🙏
From one tired, frustrated mummy xxx

When you double-click to open Photoshop, immediately press down and hold Shift+Control+Alt. This will bring up a diaglogue box. It will ask if you wish to delete file preferences or some such. Say yes. This should take you back to your default settings.
