That great, thank you so much, would you mind telling me how you did it?

talking to Fixitdave. and BTW sprucemagoo1 yours looks great too, but the some colors are way to bright.
and thanx dv8_fx, but no worries, I can open psd, I do have have photoshop cs6 (just don't know much on how to use it). Sorry it took me so long to reply, I subscribed to thread but neve got e-mail. oh well.

I tweaked with Topaz Adjust to remove the noise
Split the image to separate the different contrast sections
Adjusted the levels for each section to make them same(ish)
Merge all layers...

Here is the image without the text.

I guess that is the first thing I should learn, how to work with layers, and thank you every one.

Here it is without me messing with colour.

Much better sprucemagoo1, that makes it the best one, thank you and every one else that has done this for me. As you can tell this is an old photo of a close friend of mine and her father, who has been gone for close to 10 years now. This means alot to us, thank you all again.

Well in my experience, CS5 is the best tool providing you a unique variety for making your old photos pretty new. The above mentioned picture can be modify according to latest standards of photography. Nice technique guys! keep it up.
