Hi there,
I'm trying to use the Image -> Replace Color tool in photoshop cs5 to replace one color in a jpg with another from the same image.
It wont let me. The new color has to be from the palate apparently??
Any idea's?
Thanks!

select the eye dropper tool and click the colour on the image and it will load the colour into your pallet

Thanks, when i do that the dropper seems to change both before and after colors to the one i just clicked...

Thanks - that did help a bit!
But still photoshop isnt playing ball. My original color isnt being recognised correctly. Its coming up much much darker than it should...
Here's my jpeg.
Im trying to replace the tan with the light grey

I would actually suggest an easier way for that use quick selection tool select the chair create new layer and paint over with a regular brush and set the layer blending mode to colour if you are still not happy with it then go to image adjustment hue saturation and slide the sliders until your happy

oh and that was without a selection that was creating a new layer painting over the tan colour in grey and setting the new layer mode to colour hence it is a bit rough around the edges

Thanks!
But that grey isnt the same as the grey patch though?
Its getting the same shade of grey that is the problem...
Thank you for the help!

I am not following quite what you mean do you want a darker grey or lighter grey maybe highlite on the pic what colour you want it to be grey is very hard to work with as it is not an actual colour you have to use blending modes and duplicate layers to adjust it darkness etc

I think what you want to do is use your eye drop tool first, select the color you want then it will be already to select within the color window your trying to grab.

I want the tan replaced with the exact same grey as the patch.
So the grey that Photoshop is adding is far too dark...
Hmmm - how to do this?
Thanks for your help!
