Photoshop not reading camera RAW files...

I recently installed CS3 Suite on my laptop (Vista 64bit) and programs work fine as before on my old XP laptop, but Photoshop won't read RAW files, saying "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document."

Any clues as to why this happens and how to fix it? I've tried un- then re-installing the suite with same results. The only thing I know is that RAW files are not corrupt as I've edited them before on my old laptop and other computers as well....
