I've created a A4 size document on Photoshop with dimension guide lines but after finishing the document, I noticed that I need more space, is it possible if I can make the document height longer without messing up with the guide lines?

It's possible to add to the doc height but as document content borders or limits (I pressume they are) , you have to adjust the guidelines.

MENU>IMAGE>CANVASS SIZE...... make sure to click the top anchor. this will add the doc extension at the bottom.

I just double checked, and, at least in CS6, one can extend the canvas using either the "canvas size" menu, or by using the crop tool, and any guides that you placed on important points on the originally sized image will remain on those points.

@OP: Did you do this experiment yourself? If so, did you find that the guides moved relative to the image after the canvas was extended? If so, what version of PS were you using?

Tom .... The guides will remain in its original position regardless of version.

But with his input,,,,"..... after finishing the document, I noticed that I need more space....." , I assume he needed space for additional edits thus he needs to move the guidelines appropriately.....

Hi V - I must be missing something. I interpreted his request as he has some important points or lines on the original marked with guides, then he wants to extend the canvas (to have more room for edits), but have the guides remain on the same points on the image after he extends the canvas. This is what I checked.

Is your interpretation of his question that after doing the above, he then closed photoshop, lost the guides, and has to place them again?

T

His query is open to interpretation......

...... he might be concerned that extending the canvas size might also affect the guideline position.

as we pointed out, this isn't the case.

But as addition (whether it applies to his needs or not), I included the note that the guidelines have to be manually moved to accommodate the new space - perhaps to indicate bleed, printing limits, document limits, etc.

What other reasons would a guideline be there for? Unless the guide was at the very edge of the A4 document and he needed the additional space to indicate a border or bleed?.
