photoshop gradient bug

When i try to create a gradient without any background layer with foreground to transparent, the gradient appears very patchy and in clumps. Once this issue appeared, it wouldn't go away and even the brush tool would show patches if i use it on a transparent layer. I tried the same process on other computers and the same issue happened on them too and it persists. Please help!

Can you just upload your images please.

Go to the reply window and you will see a square icon at the right top. Click, choose from computer, and upload.

You cannot yet edit your post, so just make a new post.

Thanks a lot and welcome to PSG.

that can simply be because your zoom lvl is 66,7% and 25% instead of 100%

change zoom lvl to 100% and see if it still happens

if that doesnt work create a new document with 16b rgb colors instead of 8b

First image, what is the opacity and the flow those numbers look strange

The opacity is 100% and the flow is 100% too..fiddling with them is not altering anything..if i put a background layer then the patches dont show and if i save it as jpeg then it doesnt show either..but while working it is a pain and also i cant have decent pngs with this either..i have tried the 16 bit/channel as well and changing the screen resolution; making sure dithering is on; uninstalling software going back and forth from photoshop cs6 to cs5 to cs4; formatting windows and still it's not going away and making painting impossible =/

Poor quality brush? Is it happening with all brushes?

Show that Image again but select your brush tool so we can see the settings. It looks like you either have a selection feathered or your brush is

I can't see it but are you using the brush and in spray mode

From what I can make out that picture the brushes performing the way it's suppose to that small preview by the triangle looks like that big picture showing
I can only suggest that you reset your brushes see what happens

press f5 to see your brush settings, perhaps something is wrong in there before you reset everything
