Can you help me diagnose the problem im having with my Mini mac when using CS6 and Nik plugins? About 60% of the time when using the brush to apply the effect Ive made in NIK Collection Plugins, it doesn't happen in all the plugins and i cant seem to track down which plugin is causing the issue.

i cant post the bug report as i cant post a link and im hitting character cap

I am going to guess it is more of a power problem than a software issue as mini macs are not designed for hardcore ram intensive editing.

First of all go to preferences > performance and maybe allocate more ram to ps or less if you have dedicated to much ram to ps and not enough for ios to run the background apps needed.

secondly you can try turning of open gl this will tend to push more power towards your cpu rather than your graphics card.

failing that maybe you should be sending the bug report to NIk Software or do an update as there are often bugs like this found and patched in later versions.

Also, if you happen to have previous versions of PS installed on that machine, do NOT use the PS feature where you can tell it to use plugins installed in previous versions. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. Instead, if this is the case, disable this and reinstall the plugin directly in your latest version.

You may wonder how I know this? Let's just say that it is from personal experience and lots of phone calls. LOL.

Its not a power problem and Im running all the latest software, Ive been running just fine since December until about 2 weeks ago. I added a GPU file, lets see if that fixes it.

So what did you change at that time ? I would think a sys restore in windows, Can't help in mac

Actually, I've also experienced the crashing when trying to use NIK Plugins as well. I even went so far as to format the whole machine with a full re-installation of everything. Once I got to the NIK part, it just crashed again. My best guess it is a Video Card related issue, at least in my case.

In effort to provide solutions, rather than complaints, how about creating a new user with admin privileges. By doing that, usual behavior is sometimes fixed by avoiding corrupt preference files and other corrupt files. You may be pleasantly surprised that the whole machine runs faster. Macs are silly like that.
