hey,
I've been having a recurrent problem lately and it's affecting work quite adversely.

sometimes (a few and far between issue) when I select something, or I am attempting to select something. the image either disappears, or the work area turns completely black.

like so.

has anyone else experienced this, is there a possible fix?

I know it's not a GPU problem, as the same GPU has been used with this version of Photoshop before on an old PC and it worked fine, it also ran the games I am having a similar problem with, without a hitch.

Spec:
AMD FX 6300 (motherboard is running the latest BIOS)
8gb RAM
AMD Radeon HD 4550 512mb dedicated, 3.5gb shared VRAM.

looks like a gpu problem a good gpu today may not be a good gpu tomorrow try disabling open gl and see if you can recreate the glitch

where's the open GL checkbox? i've not got that in my prefs. either that or i'm going blind.
thankfully the GPU is being replaced in January and this one's going back in the old PC.

however I've figured something out.

I forced the error in 32bit Photoshop, occured as normal.
tried it in 64bit Photoshop, nothing.
so 64-bit works fine, but i have a requirement for file format plugins that only work in 32 bit Photoshop, and I need to use them regularly to open and save the documents = dilemma.

so now I've started to notice a pattern that it is only 32bit applications that are having this issue. however the same applications worked fine on a previous PC also running 64 bit windows.
