Photoshop CS4 install does not start! HELP

I am in trouble with the installation of Ph CS4. I downloaded the installer from adobe site and regularly decompatted. When I launch the setup.exe .. nothing happens. The machine has been freshly installed this week .. I have already installed the Creative suite CS3 (without photoshop). I installed the same package on another computer (I bought 2 licences) and the installation works perfectly (even with firewall and antivirus on ..).
Shall the installer need some package like .net or java ?? I have an XP SP2, I disabled firewall and antivirus, but nothing ..
 
computer specs

Athlon 64 3.800 GHz
Nvidia 7600 GT
2 GB RAM

Windows XP SP2

The adobe Creative Suite CS3 and Lightroom 2.2 are working perfectly !!
 
Is it a legal version of CS4?

Does it say its running on Task Manger ?

To get too task manger hold Ctrl+Alt+Delete and look for Photoshop.exe
 
Other info

The version is the one downloaded from the adobe site yesterday evening (so more official than that ....) and decompressed. When I click on the setup.exe it shows for few second the mouse pointer with the hourglass and then .. nothing. In the task manager you find the setup.exe using 0% of CPU and around 12K of memory.

The same exact installation works perfectly on my laptop.

I don't even arrive to the start installer windows ... (the one saying "analysing system")

installer not starting

no, everything is stopped. All memory is available and I installed other SW without any problem
 
Probllm solved !!

There was the need to install the Microsoft .net Framework 3.5 !!!

... obviously no trace in the documentation ...
 
I have the same problem...
It works on my laptop but I cant open the installer on my desktop

I have an XP media edition 32 bit...

I dont have the Microsoft .net Framework 3.5 tho... do i need to install this first?
 
I installed Microsoft .net Framework 3.5 but I cant still open the installer..

I already have 3 microsoft.net framework installed in my pc...2 3 and 3.5.. its taking up space on my computer.. do I really need all of this?..

This is the latest one that I Installed..
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86

Why .exe won't run

An Internet Explorer "security feature" is preventing the .exe file from executing. (Thank you Microsoft!) IE "tagged" the file when it was downloaded, and the OS will now prevent the executable from running.

You will need to download the entire installation package again using a different browser. (Mozilla Firefox works great.)

The Adobe site address this issue and provides instructions for configuring another browser to download the installation files.
