Photoshop CS4 extended trial performance issue

Hi guys,

After eagarly installing the CS4 extended trial (on vista x64...) (and yes I should have seen it coming, as it does with every new release...) I was extremely dissapointed to find that, well, it doesn't really work.

It loads fine, images load, but as soon as I try and use a tool, zoom, scroll, paint, etc... I get a huge lag/slowdown. For example, rotating the canvas becomes slow and horribly jumpy, brushes lag a few seconds behind my cursor....

I have so far only heard from one other user who is experiencing a similar problem and I cannot understand it. My PC is surely up to standard (see sig links for details) and the only thing I can think of is that vista 64 is working its usual magic. My drivers are up to date and I've played around with the RAM and open GL settings in both ati catalyst and CS4 but have got nowhere. If someone can point me in the right direction, I would be much obliged.

Thanks very much,

Henry Course

I'll bump this thread up... I've got the EXACT same problem. We received our CS4 Master Collection DVD's on Friday, it took ages to install and Photoshop is the same as you describe. The PC is a new build on Vista Enterprise - 4GB RAM, 3.0GHz E8400 and a 512MB ATI Radeon HD3600 graphics card.

Any advice? It lags so bad. I tried opening a standard issue 800x600 canvas and it takes 5-10 seconds to even load that, the same again to draw a small square with the marquee, hmm. Any advice? :)
