Photoshop CS3> Vector> Pen Tool stroke path HELP

Need help to create a colored border around a vector shape using the Pen tool in Photoshop CS3.

I went through the the Adobe help files.
I got my shape selected, I go to the "Paths Palette"
The "stroke path" button is not selectable.
I got no clue as to why its not selectable.

But it is selectable when I go in "Quick Mask Mode"

The thread wouldn't have been wasted if you had actually posted the solution to the question you originally posed instead of "I finally figured it out".

My resolution to this problem ended up simply being adding a new layer in which to create the stroke.
