I have heard that CS is causing some folks problems (slow loading being the big one). Has anyone here installed CS and is everything working properly. I'm about to upgrade.

Thanks, everyone. ;)

Lee

I have Photoshop CS since the beginning and I've never experienced any problems. I don't consider it any slower than PS7 either. You know, people also complained about PS7 when it came out and now a year later we can all say that there's nothing really wrong with that version.

Josh, thats because ps7 was slow in the begining, they got updates and patches for it... thats why 7 has a update system on it if you click on the logo on the toolbar ;) I would suggest not buying cs untill the end of the year, so you can get the updates and everything in the box... but it is fine to buy a big prog like that early in the game.. its just more of a hassle :) Thats what I think

Thanks, guys. :righton:

Got CS installed and everything works like a champ. I did have two plug-ins that caused problems and I had to find which ones by the process of ellimination....one at a time (I have about 12).

Anyway, there were two that were evidently not compatable with CS and caused slow loading and a warning msg. When I found which ones and got rid of them this thing loads as fast or faster them PS7

Please share the names of those plugins. When they don't work on your system, they won't work on anyone else's and you can save many folks a lot of time redoing the elimination-process you did.
;)

Glad it works for you. I hope it will inspire you to climb the next mountains of PS' learning curve with more ease and a renewed enthusiasm. :righton:

Erik

I made a mistake (I know you're surprised because that's so rare \:] ) but there were three that messed up CS.
1. Super Blade Pro
2. afhbevel (this was a free bevel plug-in)
3. afhbev2b (this, too) No loss to either one as I never used them. :)

Alistair,

CS does everything for you. Just launch the prgm. and all your images are perfect. :D

Okay, seriously, I provided a link that can tell you more than I can and do a better job of it: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/adobephotoshopcs/

}:\ I had many problems with fliters on PS cs... I had like well over 200 different groups of filteres I have tried and retried.. And a whole lot of them lock up as your loading photoshop.. And as of right now.. It's locked and I can get into it.. I dont recall as the ones I have tried.. As there were way too many.. Also it's hard to say only becuse I found some dont work when others are there.. It's like a big puzzle... I am hoping to resolve this problem soon enough and get back on PS.. I am starting to twitch not having it at the click of a icon... I know you can download alot of kick ass ones off of link removed by mod because of cracks and keygens etc. please don't do this again For they have 3 mirrors only, so if it does not work the first time going.. Try again and you will get in.. They have alot of kick ass things on there.. Just my 18 cents on this all..
:P

Lee, the file browser was slowing certain persons: either disable the background processing and the high quality previews, or select the hard drives with images, and let it index everything (make sure to allow scanning ofd sub-folders. Som others had problems with the bush being slow, the fix is to close the histogram palette.

The way PS CS manages the virtual memory is different, it allows faster processing on very big files...

I got another "problem" that keeps showing it's ugly head in CS. All of a sudden when I;m working on an image and select the Clone Stamp tool for example (it's actually most tools) the brush will no longer be a brush but a cursor that looks like a small horizontal line with arrows at each end. There is not way to get out of this but to restart The machine. Even restarting PS doesn't work.

Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong in CS or is this a bug?

Thanks

Edit > Preferences > Display & Cursors > Brush size
that ought to do the trick :B

For your information; there was only one update, v7.01 and that one was mostly focused on a the file browser that seemed to be slow on some systems. There was however no problem with the editor being slow. You give people the impression as if Adobe is releasing patch after patch after patch... and that's definitely not true.

And that update option in Photoshop is useless. It will check for more than a year to see if this single update is available... just a waste of time and bandwidth. The whole world knows it when Adobe releases an update for Photoshop :D

Update. CS did it to me again and when I tried Edit>Pref>Brush Size your suggestion didn't work, Nitro. This must be something else as it happens all too often lately.

Thanks anyway, buddy ;)

Lee, you should delete your preferences. From your description, this is the resize window cursor that you get... something like <-+-> , right?

Make sure that, if you have a Wacom tablet, and are using themouse that you don't have the pen lying on the sensitive area of the tablet...

Lee .. I guess you checked your "caps lock" , if it's on it will effect 'cursor' (aka brush etc) .... restarting PS doesn't resolve "caps lock" if it is on .... but reboot does 'cos the "caps lock" would normally be set at off in the bios

sPECtre,
Yeah, that is exactly what it looks like and it has a mind of it's own apparently as it just comes on for no reason (unless somehow I accidentally toggle it on somehow). Unfortunately, once it's there, it's there and I have to restart. I'll check your solution. Thanks, bro. :righton:

Namvet,
Thanks for the heads-up but, unfortunately, it's not the caps lock. That would be too easy :( Thanks for the input though.

found the perfect thread!! :righton:

I am new to both PS-CS and SuperBlade Pro, love 'em both but boy does PS-CS drag it's 'you-know-what' starting up!! I have PS 7 too but only for a little while and when I finally got PS-CS I was SO excited and then I just sat there and sat there and sat there and then finally it loaded up. What ever patch they had for PS 7 they need to do something similar here!! ICK!!

Lee, in regards to SBP I had an issue where the plugin was not invoking at all, did not crash PS-CS but it just gave me an error. So I wrote to Tech Support for SBP and they wrote me right back. You might want to try this.

In Documents and Settings/User Folder Name/Local Settings/Temp look for a file named: SuperBlade cached settings 6 (yours might end with a different number) and delete that puppy. Restart PS-CS and try the plugin now. Worked for me, hope it works for you! :)

Anyway, back to the issue at hand.... No one is having slow as molassas start ups?? Man thank GOD I always have email to read and respond too it's a saving grace to not sit there and wait like that, SHEESH!! \:]

Richard ;)
