Photoshop CS... Not Responding

Hi everyone and anyone out there...
I'm a designer, using an admittedly older version of CS at home, daily.

Have this installed now for months (July-ish) with no problems at all. Then yesterday, I could only get as far as the "splash screen". Things begin to launch and get to..

"Reading Text Global Resources.... Done" and then it all stops responding.

I've plenty of memory left... I did think about uninstalling and re-installing from scratch but the advice I've quickly Googled says that doesn't do anything. The problem remains.

In recent weeks I have installed some new, free fonts which I've downloaded.
Other than this, the program is the same as install.
Any ideas Guru's....??

Seems to be a common problem. What I found from a quick search.

"ok, if you have windows 7 go photoshop settings folder at:

C:\Users\ANYUSER\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop\Adobe Photoshop CSx\Adobe Photoshop CS Settings

NOTE: ANYUSER is whatever your user is for your computer

there you will find a file called: Adobe Photoshop CS Prefs.psp

rename it to Adobe Photoshop CS Prefs-old.psp

now restart your photoshop again, it should work now"

Also, delete the file named "New Doc Size.psp" that resides in the same folder.
