Photoshop - Color switching feature

Hello!

I'll state my business here, I'm not sure, but i thought there was a way you could dynamicly switch colors through swatches or some other feature. ( See bottom )

I heard it at presentation from an adobe employee himself, though its a while ago, after some searching on the web, i couldnt find anything for photoshop ( vague for fireworks though? ).

So, i would like to ask if this feature is available in Photoshop, or if my memory is mistaken.

The feature explained: You are working on a webdesign page, using your color palet, however, you wanna see how it would look like if you changed color X with color Y. With this feature you would be able to replace / edit or something like that, and your document would adjust all elements with color X with color Y.

Is this possible? or am i mistaken.

Thanks!

Hey ySomic!

The way i make this happen is by:
1/ Selecting all the areas in that color (Select > Color range). You can change the degree of shades you want to include.
2/ Using the bucket tool with the new color you want, with the "Contiguous" option deselected (if i remember right).

2/bis Instead of using the bucket, you can change the "HUE" to preserve the eventual shadows in your selection. This might be the best option.

There might be more efficient ways to do this though, but whis works wonderful :)

This feature is highly used in Illustrator, I have only found 1 way to do it in photoshop that is quite simple may not be 100% accurate but it is good for a rough idea.

create your document with the initial idea colour scheme. very Top layer add a hue saturation adjustment layer.

so if you have a load of blue boxes you want to see looks like if it was red select the blue channel in the adjustment layer and move the hue until it is red.

once you have a rough idea then you can look towards recolouring the parts as needed properly
