hey, I'm new here and new to photoshop.

I'm running photoshop CS2 and i was wondering if all of the photoshop brushes available will work with it as i know all the ABR files work in GIMP 2.4 and above.

plus, how can i get the best out of using photoshop?

I can't really say about brushes as I know CS2 works with CS5. Since I run CS5 master copy pretty much anything that's older works with it. I can't see it not working though and worst comes to worse if a file doesn't work just erase it.

If your asking overall how do you get the most out of photoshop then I think these would be some hints.
1.Be LAZY. Always see if the program can do it for you. Always try and find the quickest and easiest way to achieve what you want to through photoshop. There is usually a number of different ways to accomplish something, find the quickest and more so the easiest path to doing so.
2. Keyboard Shortcuts. Learn them love them live them. The difference say with a hour long edit with shortcuts would take two without using them. They save you tremendous amounts of time in the long run.
3.Study Study Study! Watch tutorials, read books, screen share with a friend, most importantly screw around with it as much as possible. The only way you will learn a lot of PS uses is by practical knowledge.

Hope that helps as those are the crucial ones I feel.

No problem. I myself just started with CS5 as my first editing software. I used to use IPhoto for almost everything I did up until last year. Since then I've probably logged at least a hundred hours on tutorials and have a 8 gig Ereader that's filled with almost entirely of photoshop manuals and labs. If you want pm me your email and I'll send you a ton of PDf's sometime today.
