Hi, I'm relatively new to Photoshop. I have Photoshop 7 running on Windows XP. On to my question....

I have a couple image editing programs and whenever I'm sent an image by email, another programs opens it by default. Can I set Photoshop 7 as my default program for opening these images?

Yes. Rightclick on an image of a specific type, for example jpg and choose 'Open with". Browse to Photoshop, or, if it isn't in the list, to ProgramFiles>Adobe>Photoshop>Photoshop.exe.

Then tick the box "always use this program to open this kind of file"

Nice tip Erik = thanks :righton:

Erik, thanks for the help.

When I right clicked on a photo and then hit "open with", and then hit "photoshop", it opened photoshop, without giving me the option to "always use this program to open this kind of file". I had to go back to the photo, righ click and then click on "properties". I then had to go to "opens with:" and click on "change...". I then had the option of choosing the program and tick the box "always use this program to open this kind of file". Anyway, it worked out and I couldn't have done it without your direction. Thanks,

At the bottom of the Open with command, you find Choose Program. Here you can choose PS and tick the box.

I jumped over this... [oops]
