Photoshop Alapha layer

I have been working on a Logo for my gaming community, and the idea was to have a transparent background. However when I try and save it in any format the alpha is greyed out and whenever I save it I end up with a white background by default. Is there anyway I can create a transparent background or do I have to start over and what do I need to do to make sure it has one.

Looks like you have one. You can use PS's File/Save for Web. function. Save as a PNG and preserve transparency
