Hi All,
Having a problem with brushes.
I lost my precise preferences for the brushes and all I have is a 1-3 pixel brush. After that it defaults to the icon. Our IT guys seem to have misplaced the original cd.

I've gone through the reloading of brushes, preferences and I've tried Adobe Studio exchange, but no luck. I desperately need be able to get the precise brush size preferences back.

Any suggestions??

Don't recall this for sure lenny, but to scale a brush's size, try press Ctrl + for larger, Ctrl - for smaller. Not sure if that quick-key worked in 5.5. If it does that should at least get you some different sized brushes to work with.

As for "losing the 'precise brush' preference"... that really odd. Never seen that before. Did you say you already tried resetting your PS Prefs file? If not, then start the program and before it gets to loading hold down the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys until a dialogue window opens asking if you really want to delete the current PS Prefs file. Choose YES, and Photoshop will recreate a new one from scratch. Then check your prefs again for the 'precise brush' setting.

I have no idea if this will work on this problem. But it's worth a try.
If you absolutely can't get it sorted, i suggest posting this problem over at Adobe's board. At least their tech guys watch that board and answer questions. Good luck. :righton:

Hello Lenny - welcome to PSG :)

If your Brush Size pointer is suddenly replaced with a Precise pointer, check to see if the [caps lock] key has been turned on accidentally. This key allows you to switch from Brush Size to Precise when depressed. If this isn't the case you may need to throw out your Preferences file and then restart the application.

In version 5.5 open the Photoshop Application folder and delete the Adobe Photoshop Prefs file located in the Adobe Photoshop Settings folder. This will force Photoshop to re-create your preferences. Then restart Photoshop and more than likely all your problems will be solved.
