Pen tool problem.

Hi there, I seem to be having a strange problem using the pen tool since upgrading to CS3.

In CS2 I was able to use the pen tool to make simple curved lines that I could alter the stroke width, the colour and shape etc.
Now any time I try to use the pen tool it automatically creates a vector mask that automatically fills the line path with a colour. I am now ending up with stange shapes of varying thickness with overlapping points instead of a simple curve with a fixed width that follows the lines path.

Please help, I had this porblem when I first started using CS2 but I somehow stopped it, now I cant remember how to fix, I feel like I'm going mad when all I want to do is draw a simple line.

Cheers,

Alex

your pen tool needs to be on 'paths' to do what you're describing. the button for me is in the top left of your CS3, when you have the pen tool selected.

I've tried that option too, in which case a line can be drawn but once it is complete I cannot alter it. I have previously been able to draw multiple lines on multiple layers and still have the ability to alter the paths when swapping between layers.
