pen tool problem

I've been using the pen tool for a lot of my work, and last night, while I was doing the lines, whenever I selected "fill path" from the right click menu, it filled the whole area except the bit selected.
I don't know what's happened, but I've had a look at the options and can't see what to change to make it go back to normal.
Restarting the program and resetting the options hasn't helped.

Any help would be appreciated. ^_^

Open a new document and draw a simple path, something like a triangle and fill it.
If that doesn't work, try resetting your Photoshop preference file by holding Alt+shift+Ctrl on PC or option+command+shift on the Mac while starting Photoshop, a window should pop up asking you to reset the preference file, answer with yes. Try filling the same path again.

If it still doesn't work, report back and let me know which version of Photoshop you are using, if any updates were applied and which OS you are using.
