PC freezing when trying to use "Filters" "Liquefy" "Bloat tool"

Hello, please help!!! I'm trying to use Filters, Liquefy bloat tool for changing a photo. As soon as I try to use it, the PC freezes completely. I have tried Alt Cont. Sup. to close the software and it is the only possible way to make my PC return to normal but, naturally my work is lost. I have tried everything, shutting it down and turn on again, close all other software working such as Gmail etc. The problem persists. I have Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, 4G ram. All other Photoshop features and all other programs are working fine. Any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you, However, I'm not an expert in technology, What is "hard drive issues" mean? Mine is 500 G. As for Photoshop glitch, you mean that perhaps it has an installation problem? And my Photoshop is CS6, Again thanks for your help.

Photoshop which ever version you have will do odd things from time to time, it's the nature of the great beast.
As for your computer you sound as if you are covered with power to more than cover any usage, just try some of the link answers and report back with your results please.

I agree with Paul, not only Photoshop. I also use Corel X6 for vectorizing parts for model airplane kit production and it also goes wild from time to time. Anyway, I will continue to try and consult and any results, I'll let you know. Thanks a lot!!!!!

Windows update killed my Ps yesterday, reinstalled and working okay for now. The is of course if you're windows based.

Hello, Yes My PC is Windows but I haven't had any updates lately. So I think is is not the problem. And, by the way, it persists. I tried it this morning and the problem persists!! No solutions yet.

Go into preferences and turn off advance graphics support and see if that has anything to do with it. If it works after doing this, I would update your graphics card driver.

Hello, I turned off advance graphics support and it worked but only for a few minutes. After I used the bloat for about 5 minutes, the problem returned. What's next? Thanks for your patience. My RAM is 4G, using 64 bit in Windows 7 ultimate version, it uses all of them

I would double the RAM....and check your drivers. It could be your video card, If it is slow, everything will hang up.

I will try to double the RAM. As for slow video card, I don't think so because everything else works fine. The ONLY problem is when I try to liquefy and bloat. All other applications, features and software work fine and don't freeze the PC.

Hello and before anything else, Merry Christmas!!!!!
I need a little help. I want to change the colour of something on a photo, let's say, the colour of the shirt of someone. How is it done? I know there are several ways but I would like to use the "colour change" on the brush. I found a tutorial on You Tube but the guy speaks too fast and is not clear enough. Any help is appreciated.
Cheers!!
Eduardo

I have Photoshop CS5 Extended and use its 3D features all the time. One of the glitches when working with lights and the light tool is that the arrows on the 3D light tool widget will disappear. Basically what this means is that I can't move lights around. I have to turn off the visibility of the light I'm working with and then the widget becomes functional again. I have CS6 at work and have run into other glitches such as layers not becoming unlocked when I double click on them. This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen. Eduardo, I read the specs on your computer and it seems that it's more than capable of running Photoshop. You may want to check with Adobe and install the latest updates for Photoshop CS6. http://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotcom/2012/08/photoshop-cs6-13-0-1-update-now-available.html It is still relatively new and it's gonna have hiccups from time to time. The source of the problem with the Liquify tool could be the result of a plethora of things. From lack of RAM, to outdated video card drivers, to maybe having too many applications running at the same time. It's difficult to give you a solution in this case because we don't know the conditions in which this problem occurs. My advice to you Eduardo is to try to recreate the problem. Open the image that causes the Liquify tool to freeze your computer without having any other applications running such as open browser windows or email programs, chat clients, etc. Do your thing with the Liquify tool and see what happens. Last week I was rendering an After Effects video when it suddenly crashed. After Effects will do this from time to time. In trying to resolve the problem, I opened After Effects with the video I wanted to render without anything else open. After Effects didn't crash on me. The problem was that I had to many programs running that were stealing RAM that After Effects needed. The whole point to this post is that resolving software related crashes and freezes is a trial and error process. Hope this or one of the other possible solutions offered helps. Let us know what you come up with.

Hi Chris, Thank you very much for your excellent explanation and possible solutions. Let me try your suggestions and I will post results here. Happy New Year!!!

Hi Eduardo,

Where are you from? You have a portuguese name, I'm Barra and I was born and live in Madeira Island, where Cristiano Ronaldo was born too. :)

By the way, have you already solved your problem?

Regards,

Barra
