This is question for PC builders. I am not new to Photoshop. I am not new to PC building either. I work with rather large multilayer Photoshop files - 100 and more layers, 8 GB and above file sizes. The budget is not the issue (within reason).

I simply need to know the preferred allocation of resources and hardware priorities from point of Photoshop software. What is more crucial for work with such large files:
fast swap file drive? what parameters are the most crucial (read, write, access)?
SSD swap drive? what parameters are the most crucial (read, write, access)?
particular RAID configuration?
a lot of RAM? (16GB, 32GB, 64GB)?

Thank you for any input.

PS
I take it for granted that good motherboard, fast video card and CPU is a must.

If you're working with files of 8GB and up, with 100 layers... it's safe to say you're going to need the highest-end hardware available. Basically you're going to have to max out on all the options you asked about, in other words get the best video card on the market, the most RAM your computer can hold, the fastest PC currently available, the fastest SCSI or SSD drive (for swapping), the largest hard drive, etc. Your needs are excessive in the sense that you're not looking for an average machine; you need the best that's out there for the year 2012. Gonna cost $$$ but if budget is no issue then go for it.
