Patterns and Styles - Creating new

I define patterns all the time in photoshop, but they are always added to the patterns that are already loaded. How do I define patterns to a completely new set so that I can share that set as I wish without it being mingled with another loaded set?

The same question applies to saving multiple styles. I want to create a set of specific styles that I save as one group without them being added to another set. How do I do that?

I think
1 create your folder
2>pesetManager>load> and follow the default windows to have them load to your created folder

let me know if that works.......... first thought on it.
