Paint on two layers together

Hello all!

Is it possible, in Photoshop, to paint brush strokes on two specific layers simultaneous? I would like to be able to make a sort of "log layer" that can keep track of where I already have been painting and where not. Have been searching the net for something like this, but didn't find anything helpful...

As far as I know you can only work one layer at a time.

Thanks, iDad, for your answer! That's a pity, though... Perhaps another solution for the "log where one has painted on the canvas"-problem?

Always add a layer before painting then merge when you are sure of the results added

All work, painting, cloning, etc. should always be done on it's own layer if possible.
