Hi!
I am helping my friend make a wine label, and I am fairly confident I can complete a design, but have no idea how to do anything with packaging! I've never done anything like this before.
Can I just create a document in the proper proportions and then design it and simply send it as a jpg? Does that work? I don't know where to start haha.
Thanks in advance! And let me know if more details would help.

well I could say yes that will be fine but unfortunately it is different depending on the printers you use

Some will want CMYK Illustrator or eps files Some will work from photoshop and some will work from jpeg

However most printers tend to supply you with templates so you can account for bleed and get the margins you need.

If you are making a box for example you cant just do your artwork on 1 square document you will need a box template

Contact your printer and see what they suggest or even what tools they can offer you
