Overlaying for a constellation effect

Hi everyone,

This is my first post but I read the forums often. I have a picture of two ladies posing and I want to change the picture into a constellation detailing their bodies. My first thought was to do a transparent overlay on top of a black background and then had hoped there was some way photoshop could take a point-sample, giving me their basic structure. I was unable to find any way of doing this so far and was hoping one of you could point me in the right direction.

Thank you guys,
Ely

Update

I have the background already set up with a soft light "Screen" set for the scene, I also made a general star pattern out of the ladies. Ideas for cleaning it up and detailing their picture in the sky?

I have the images but can't post

Ok well if u got the stars done, Select the ladies bodies and mofidy the boarder, and feather it then change with the levels on the star layer

Despite having to find out what you meant and then research where things were (I have to switch between CS3 and version8) you sir, are a genius.
