Hi, i'm new and hopeful

problem, this is obvious to everyone but me i guess. when i make a logo or scan line work and rip to film for printing the edges of the image are dotty and not clean lines. I can't seem to get rid of this effect whatever resolution I use to make the image in the first place. I suspect it is something to do with importing into quarkxpress for final use.
If anyone can point me in the right direction I will be grateful.
richard.

Hi richard and welcome to the forum! :)

I read somewhere that logos/line art/and vectors should be imported into QuarkXpress at 600 ppi. This could be your problem...

Let me guess your printing this off a inkjet printer or something at home right?

well quark looks like crap when you print it at home. you have to bring it to a printer to get it to look decent, and be sure you include the source graphics. (there is a feature called collect for output or something like that)

sorry it kept giving me an error... but it just drives home the point of quark looking like crap if you print it at home.

Thanx Wendy but I normally use 1200ppi for line art.
Can vector art be done in photoshop? I thought it was always a raster image.

Oh yes! :-) Although, PS's vector tools aren't nearly as sophisticated as Illustrator or other dedicated vector programs. ;)

Richard, what format are you using to import your art files into QuarkXpress? Are you printing yourself? I work with Quark and have never experienced your problem and I use 300 ppi tiffs. [confused]
