Any ideas how to turn a photo into outlines , for example I have photo of myself that i want to turn into funky outline figure that I can use for design (logo) or turn it into a stencil , but would like to achieve nice edges so the shape is recognised. Cheers

thanx

Heya thanks for that some interesting stuff there , I was already member of stencilrevolution hehe they're actually based in my city now ... I ended up mixing those techniques that were suggested and came up with some nice stuff ... anyway I appreciate your effort , what about the outlines ? the best I managed to do is reuse the stencil idea and then just duplicate the layer and apply Filter -> other -> maximise (2) and then make that selection and cut out of the internal part of the stencil so I get the outlines... the only problem is it looks bit rough , need to come up with the way to make lines more smooth (I did some blur effect which helps but it's not perfect ... yeah perfectionist what can I do =) ...

p.s. by the way Ljiljana where does that name come from ?

Hi, Trippin

... yeah perfectionist what can I do
Sounds great to me. ;)

That was exactly what I expect you would do. :righton:
For the outlines to make them darker use levels and adjustments layers (treshold for cleaning up).

Check this tread here:

To give you more inputs please post your image and what you did so far.

yeah I'm workig on getting some nice outlines , thanx for the reply here you can check out one of the stencils (wow it's me) that I did for my little pet project ... http://test.zgm.com.au/filip/Graphik/IndustrialDay.jpg

oh almost forgot nice to meet you my name is Filip :D

cheers

Hi , Filip nice to meet you too! :)

Your image looks good to me. :righton:

If you would like to smooth edges : make a selection of stencel image then >Select: Modify: Border.... enter the value of pixels for border ( would depend on the resolution of your image.) >Next Select: Feather... and type value in the Feather Selection window and apply Blur Gaussian Blur. This will blend and soften the effect.

Hope this can help.

yep

That's a useful tip thanx Lily [upset] [doh] [innocent] ;\ [confused] :\ [oops] [excited] %} :(|

coulnd't resist hehe ...
