Very nice image my eyes are drawn to the light of the flame it is for me the only part that looks a little stuck on.

I would be interested in knowing the intention behind this photograph. And why you have posted such a low resolution version of it.

My issues with it are 1) part of it appears to have a canvas texture overlay. 2) the subject is totally blurred as are almost all elements of the picture. 3) as the others said, the fire needs work. But for a different reason to me. There is a shadow line which cuts entirely through it, and the color of the fire is different above vs. below.

Perhaps the out of focus face was intentional, but with the rock he sits on in sharp focus, it seems off.

Otherwise, I think the color and composition are excellent and I love the misty background. So, for a novice, good early work.

Thanks all for your comments and remarks regarding value flame actually inconsistent I am at the beginning of learning Photoshop and over time will be good at work ....Thanks again

All i see are possible four different images layered 'poorly', no real conspiracy Clare?

I like the overall composition, but as Paul said, executed by someone with little experience in Ps. I was immediately drawn to the hard line Clare speaks of in the lower third of the image. It's the deal breaker for me when it comes to convincing reality. You should learn more about blending layers in composites.

The symmetry of the obviously duplicated and flipped background was the next thing I noticed in the image. This technique is very hard to pull off unless major changes are made to conceal the symmetry. Adding the path to the right side was just not enough to sell it. Also noticed the two transparent trees.

As for the man, I agree with Clare, not sure why he was made to be out of focus, I find this to be an odd choice.

I think this image was a great idea and you should not give up on it. I think it's worth trying. Keep up the good work! Practice!

For me the male figure was either taken from a small image file and increased or it was just a poor image to begin with (all the OP could find or be bothered to find).

LOL Paul, Guess I wasn't clear. I was wondering if the intent of the OP was for instance to make some dreamy OOF image or impressionist illusion. I asked because I was confused why someone would make such glaring "mistakes" unless it was intentional. But I think it is just a newbie learning; as he said, he is a novice.

Paul...

That avatar is MENTAL..... That's probably why i like it so much. Reminds me of all those that keep looking through the cell door hatch at me when i'm ON ONE.. cause thats how they appear to me.

Got to get me one of these. done in the Photoshop Animation i take it?.. never done any in this area but maybe i'l give it a go.

As for the OP's image .. i quite liked it for a complete beginner... heck.. i was ( and probably still area ) 10 times worse when i did the first one... .. well done.... But take note of the advise mate..

Thank you.
