Ok I know there are people on here like iDad hawkeye etc etc who like to do photo restoration this seems like a good challenge and I would like to learn how to do it properly but there is a severe lack of resources out there to actually get the images to work on. Me being from a digital era and modern film cameras before the digital came out I do not have any of these images so if anyone has any scanned into their computer could I request a copy. I am not after the free lancing work or anything like that so not moving in on you guys that do do it for money just want to widen my training
much love hoogle

steve they are wonderful exactly what I am looking for I think I will give it a shot tomorrow Dont you just miss those good old days when you were in your prime (Steve dont take it to heart I am in a weid mood today I am only joking with you) But seriously the pics look great

you want to see me makeout ?????? mmmmm trust me you dont I get JK sure will it is a subject only tried once had some pleasing results but they were very basic though but everyone has to start somewhere right

Hi Hoogleman. If you need more later, let me know. I have quite a few scanned images (including one my dad took of himself - eating choke cherries - with his Kodak bellows camera on Kodiak Island during WWII). Some are a huge challenge! Some have areas that can't be recovered, but man I love Bridge. Believe it or not, I went directly from Photoshop 6 to CS5, Still learning not to do some things the long way, since you can do almost everything in PS 4 or 5 different ways, including all the old slow methods.

yes Photoshop has evolved into a great program as it is so big and manipulative these days it also leads to having many different ways to achieve the sam outcome each release there is something that makes the program better than the previous list i.e CS4 and CS5 they had content aware ok this existed in CS4 but no way near as accurate as CS5 they also had the puppet tool fantastic once you get to know how to use it properly. so Yes I LOVE PHOTOSHOP ( I dont have a problem though) but it is an amazing program.
Any way I finally got some sleep only 3 hours but it is good enough for me to return to normal and not Crazy
Steve your a good man thank you and
ibClare I will definately take you up on that offer and ibseeing you soon lol ( see what I did there)

Not at all.
Create a new empty layer set the blending mode to color, and label it skin (you may want to do the same thing for lips too).
Skin color is the most difficult, we know what it is supposed to look like, #d7a297 is a good starting point.
All your skin coloring gets done in this layer not the original image, use clipping adjustments, opacity, or whatever you need to make the skin look right.

All the other coloring could be in an additional empty layer set to color although a layer per color will give you more control.
Nothing gets done to the original layer.

Sorry Steve i was off doing this, thanks for the advice. i decided to do differing skin colours depending on where they are in respect to perspective and depth on the image (if you know what i mean).
Hey i gave it a go.
