Hi, my name is Darren or vampiremcmuffin. I am new to photoshop. I will be taking computer graphics 1 and 2 comng up in the next year at my community college. I own Adobe CS5 Design Premium. I suppose I am looking for a mentor of sorts. So far this is the best thing I have done...

and I want to be able to make stuff that looks good and professional as well as dark and twisted.

If anyone is willing to take me under their wing I would be most grateful.

Anyway, back to me. I am a big music and horror fan. Some of my favorite bands are Tool, Pink Floyd, and Opeth. Some of my favorite movies are The Shining, Halloween, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I am here to learn and make friends.

I really like the look of what you've done, it looks like metallic/rusty biological samples..

I'm by no means a mentor and I'm new here myself but I'm also looking forward to chatting, sharing and learning from others here :-)

Have you got any ideas for your next photoshop project?

As you can see these arent great but Im learning slowly but surely.

Thanks! These are just the basic of the basic for me. Just piddeling around and experimenting with filters and such.

Please allow me to reintroduce myself, I was once a vampire named mcmuffin but I found my way back to humanity. ou can call me Frey and as you can see I'm a whole lot happier.

Frey, welcome to the wonderful world of Photoshop. If you're looking to acquire professional level skills, Powder has it right. Practice, practice, practice and then practice some more. Start with the basics. Don't jump into advanced stuff until you have mastered the basic tools. I know this seems boring, but it's a necessary step. Practice cloning, masking, painting, blending, compositing. Learn basic color theory and color correction techniques. 99% of the work you do in Photoshop requires these basic skills. It's kind of like the Karate Kid. You have to paint some fences and wax some cars before you can take on Cobra Kai.
