Hi
Im trying to make a retro poster with a number of cassette tapes images. When i view them individually i can view them very big and very clear and detailed. When i try to copy and paste into a A3 backround the end up being tiny. When i try to scale them up to the size i need them they look terrible and you can see all the pixels.

Please help me as ive been messing about trying to get them to all on to the A3 back round clearly.

check the images resolution.
you should have (for printing purposes)
A3 image is 297x420mm on 300 dpi or 3508x4961 in pixel size.
when you drag and drop your cassette on it shouldn't bee too tiny on this new canvas.
if it is that means it is in very low resolution, not enough to be printed in good quality.

is the resolution of the cassette tape much smaller then the design resolution? ( beset on zoom im guessing cassette around 700 x 400 and design 3000x4000 or more - but may be completely wrong ;) if yes there is not much you can do accept finding bigger cassette pictures ( the are ways to make picture bigger but the quality is almost never acceptable)

Vector images used in Illustrator allow infinite zooming without quality degradation, but we're dealing with normal raster images in photoshop which pixelate when zoomed a lot. Like 3hc said you really need a better quality picture, there are filters that upsize images that may help or conversely you could create your own cassette picture at a high res... this cassette is only small but it could be used as a guide for a bigger cassette. http://wegraphics.net/blog/tutorials/how-to-create-a-detailed-cassette-tape-icon-in-photoshop/
