Noob Needing some help

Hello people,

i am new to photoshop only been playing around with it for a couple of months
i want to know how to make the background black i have seen it in some images and i like the way it looks, also i have seen an effect called the gritty effect but a while ago i tried it but it was a different name does anyone know the name?

If you mean just a basic black background, open a new file and press Ctrl + I to invert the color from white to black and thats that. Hope I helped.

If your talking about a grunge black effect, then you get it from a brush website or something.. brusheezy.com
