I want to create a non destructive reference line to guide me on where a background object is relative to the foreground object. I am using liquify and a pole in the background (even after masking) was pushed around and I need to remove it. to keep the realism i need to draw a reference line on top of my foreground object to show me where the pole is in the background so i can get the top and bottom edges correct.

how to i draw a non destructive line to use as a reference that i can discard ofter editing?

Need a bit of clarification. My first thought was to use Guides, but I'm not sure I understand where you need the lines to show up. If they need to show inside the Liquefy filter than I'm not sure Guides would work.
