I am looking for tips or suggestions - my goal is to scan a newspaper article and reprint it on clean white paper ( with the publisher's permission , of course ) . How do I keep the text crisp and clear, but remove all the gray/noise in the back ground? and is it possible to enhance the photo? if so/how so?

I know this is pretty broad and general so any suggestions/ideas/tips are greatly appreciated.

I am using CS4 photoshop,illustrator, in Desgin, - which is best for this?
