Fairly simple yet an accomplishment since my newbie level
Tell me if it looks powerfull as a branding or is it one for the trash?

Tnx for any comment, good or bad.

Only my personal take.. there are others more qualified than me for this..

I think the text should be all the same size and thickness, there needs to be some kirning done and spacing , the text is too small, The spater at the end of the moop text is to close and dosn't fitt, it obscures the letter P .

The sub heading is out of alignment with main text and again kirning and spacing needs to be done.

I don't think its one for the trash ... just needs a bit more care and attention to it. apart from that it's ok

I take from the word branding that is going to be a logo ?....

Hi inkpad.t

Thanks for your reply. No need for apologies, I appreciate your comment.
I could have a look into it, and if others share your opinion I sure will

It's for something a friend of mine is working on. Indeed it should form a logo. Quite big but...

Haha that sounds awesome, we sell man purses .
No sir not at all, my friend is a hardcore developer until he dies I think.

I like it. I actually like the way the ink spatter touches the p. I don't like the use of two fonts. At least not the ones chosen. I agree they should at least have the same weight, the same thickness and complement each other. The background is too large for the logo. The masters of online printing is not in alignment and that is a mistake. I like the glow in the center as a backdrop. Very nice. It may be corny but I would space the m and the p away from the double o. Like I said, it might be corny and depends on how formal a look you want. But given the grunge, I don't think it's very conservative.

And the second image, I don't think you mean that to be there? Scrap that.

here's the corny part. Well without the eyeglass bridge . . . but I couldn't resist!

moop2.jpg

. . . or crossed eyeballs in the center? OMG. I'm not going in the right direction; rolling downhill and ROFL.

Thanks everyone for the comments.
OK here it comes. I feel that I need to give you guys some background information on this one.
It's a long and personal story out a dark period of my life but I'm happy to share instead of leaving you guys in pitch black darkness.

In 2008 till medio 2009 I had an web agency called INNOVAT CONCEPTS. Me together with a 50 year old partner out of the insurance business (most of the time people know enough when I say this). He was the slick talker driving a $200.000,- car (Aston Martin).
We were working with 5 people and a hand full of freelancers.

We did both development (web and standalone applications) and concepting. I took the commercial and concepting part for me since that was what I did best. In no time we had big connections with big firms. We had connections with Rolex, Gröhe and the Apple store in London for a big Apple concept. And of course like all fairytales go it was to good to be true.

After a while my relationship with my former partner started to show some cracks because he wasn't that honest and good in his job as he claimed to be. It was all a big fancy bubble that on one day was supposed to burst. Since we couldn't deliver (not enough resources) and his wallet was thinner then he claimed it to be big customers started to have their doubts.
After a year of going through a hell I decided to file for chapter 11 as it goes.

Almost five years later I had 3 out of 4 lawsuits against him won and a fourth one is still pending. Higher appeal from his side.

Now where does .moop fit in? Well we still have the hunger to create. With we I mean myself (Pieter) and my best friend (Mano). So after a while we created something virtual. We never created a business out of it and maybe we never won't. But we have the intention to do so when the time is ripe.

.moop stands for several things. First of all our first letter of both of our names is in it. The word is short and catchy, easy to remember and we first made the logo with the .moop as you see it now. Why the letters are close to each other and why the OO?
Easy. The closer the letters the more attached we are. Separately we can't do **** seriously. But together we make a good team. I on the concept part, he's very very good in coding things and developing. The OO are our eyes or glasses like opted here.

It's shows that we look at things from a new kind of perspective. The way we think of new concepts. Last but now least. Since most of the things we think of are cloud based or online things we came up with - Masters Of Online Platforming.

However I'm not sure if 'Platforming' is a correct word. It probably has to be platform or platforms.

So this is the little personal dark story behind the .moop scene. Hope it helps you guys in making up your mind on wether you like it or not and what should be changed. Now I have to tell you, this is just a wallpaper that I came up with. I just like the dramatic scene. The website itself will be a lot more plain and simple. Easy to navigate and read. Most important thing is the portfolio anyway. So no drama on the website itself. I just like strong words like WE ARE.MOOP and 'Tell them we're coming'
Guess I'm more of a drama queen ROFL.

Great story. Thank you for sharing. i guess we all have our angsty times in life. I've also gone through bankruptcy, but the story is yet to be told, lol. Still working on the upswing, but as they say (and I hate trite, overused sayings but . . . ) "Life is Good."

It works as a wall paper yes. I love the moop and the dot moop. I see your reasoning but I liked it without the background anyway. However, I still don't like that font so I hope you find a better one. I knida liked the one I stumbled on since it's grunge, has the right weight, looks good I think in lower case. In case (no pun ...) you are interested, it's called Tragic Vision and I believe I found it on dafonts.com.

Anyway, I really wish you both the very best. Rebuilding, moving on. Those are the keys to staying healthy and sane. Maybe even happy.

Keep posting as you perfect your design. We always like to see the progression, and if you use some of our suggestions, the more the merrier. Drinks on me. Oh, I forgot, I don't drink. Lemonade anyone? (that's what you do with sour lemons)

Any suggestions on other 'non-grunge-style' fonts which could match nicely because it needs to be used on a very plain website as well. Would it help if I put the WE ARE just in bold instead of in regular?

I don't think so. That font just does not get it. Go to a font site like dafonts.com and look thru them. I guarantee you will find one you like and that works so much better.

I followed you guys advice and did the same wallpaper in the same font.
Everything in Myriad pro just like the .moop logo. Check out what you think of it. I had to change the position of the paintsplash a little to make the logo align better. Sadly it wasn't in a separate layer so I had to erase a little first .

Your opinions are appreciated!

That's good, simple enough. Easy to move the splatter given the BG :p! Now move the "we" closer to the "are" and move the E of we closer to the W. IM -not so humble - O.

Hi ibclare,

I followed your advice and made the changes. This is hopefully the last version of it. Can you check it out if it's better compared to my first version.

Is there a way that I can show you my site design to but more privately. I don't want to put it out on the open. Can you receive PM's?

Thanks for all your help and comment in this topic.

Can I receive PMs? (not PMS; been there; done that) I am the Queen Bee of PMs. The inbox shudders when I arrive.

Silly, of course I can receive PMs!

:bustagut:

Bzzzzt, sober up Aunty Clare. Done

Very, very nice. I like the way you changed the message. And the light blue was an inspiration. I say this and let all hear the order of the Queen: kneel down Pieter Goris . . . I now dub thee Sir Pieter of PSG Artistry. Good work. Keep it up. Send me a PM please.

Due to the fact that I sold the name WEARE.MOOP to a company already functioning under the name moop. I deleted all attachments with the logo on it. Due to copyright claims. Hope you understand and sorry for that.
