Newbie seeking Photoshop image examples.

I'm considering buying Photoshop but it seems very expensive. I joined the forum to see some examples of what can be done with it but I'm having trouble finding any images. I tried to view the contest winners images but I only see some code or something. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks!
