Hi everyone

I need some help with Adobe Illustrator. I have made a resume in Illustrator building from scratch and adding some free vectors sets downloaded from free vector sites.I am having trouble in somethings for which i need your sincere help.

I am NEWBIE to Illustrator.
it's an A4 sheet on which i have made the resume and it's all converted to grey scale format.

1.i have put a banner (as header) and stretched it to full corners of A4,but i wanted to know, when it will be for printing, would it have some margins and cut them in printing.I am asking this because when i made resume in Microsoft Word program, it leaves margins around the corners. So, i thought it must be same in Illustrator. And if it would cut the margins, then how do i choose to make it inside margins. How do i set margins?

2.Because of this margins issue,i was not sure what i do,so i exported it to .PSD and then in Photoshop i opened a new A4 sheet and stretched the resume PSD to it.Was it good to do or Illustrator A4 is enough.

3.I even tried to save the Illustrator file into PDF to be the final thing to get it printed, but there is something strange. When i see it in Illustrator it gives me bright black color, but when i export it to PDF,it shows a DULL black color(i mean the text part).I tried changing the exporting options for PDF(not compressing the image,PDF high quality etc) but all efforts in vain.

Please help me in this regards.

when setting up your document it gives you the option for bleed if your going to the printers to have it done then use their settings if you have a home computer that can print to edges (not all printers can) then you shouldnt need to set a bleed.

are you working in rgb or cmyk when setting up the document if you go from cmyk in illustrator and export as rgb or vice versa you will see color changes.

Hi i have attached the images of Illustrator and i hope you can understand what's going wrong.

i tried the black settings as you showed in the attached picture and then exported it as PDF,but still same,it wasn't rich black.I get a dull black color.

Help me out for this.

Thanks a lot dear for helping me out.
No, i don't have printer at home,i don't need it whenever i have to get some prints (very rare) i go to market for prints etc. So,i am not aware about printing to edges but i guess the printers they have in market, are not very latest,it's just normal ones.Obviously not very old ones too.But when they will open the PDf,won't it give settings to do page settings to choose for printing.

2nd thing which i wanted to ask, related to above thing.i am a newbie in Illustrator specially.SUPPOSING the printers in market don't print to the edges, then i would like to set the edges offset to avoid any problem in print.HOW TO DO THAT? as you some word "bleed" how can i do that?

you can see the attached images, and the header on top of it,basically i wanted it to remain to full width of paper not inside the margins of printing area.Is there any way for that?i mean printing to edges?

sorry I removed your attachments as I dont think it is in anyones best interest to have your personal details accessible.

To be honest I think your best of keeping the layout as it is if you take it to the edges it wont look as clean unless you remove the page stroke you have going on but still you wouldnt want your banner on the top and side edges either. I wouldnt alter it if it was me. it looks fine as it is.

Thanks dear for your helping, i got your point.

Last thing only now, what about the black appearance in PDF which i asked previously in this thread. How do i manage it?
