Hi everyone!

I just want to start off by saying I'm really excited to be part of this community.

Im in the market for a new desk top and can't wait to purchase my first photoshop.

I will be using PS for editing pics and short movies and was wondering what you guys recommended. I also will need a photoshop that can watermark my photos and videos.

Thanks in advance, gents!

Regards
Sam

Hi Sam and welcome.

If you include your budget and if you require a monitor then members would be better able to help.

$200-300 for the whole computer? I think you're going to be limited on what you can do, unless you're buying one used. My computer was purchased a year or two ago for about $650 not including the monitor I have now. In it's own right it's a decent computer, but when it comes to doing 3D work or editing videos, it could use some work. I'm currently tryin to save some money to do a custom build of my next PC that way I'll have exactly what I want. If you're going with a new set up, I would suggest a budget of around $700, this will ensure a good performing PC. Though many here will say that you're better off going with Apple computers, which are a bit pricey. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'll try to help if I can. I know if I don't have the answer, someone does.

Look at building a bare bones CPU....I spent 500 on mine, and I went cheap

Hi,

No, you misunderstood me. $200-300 for the photoshop, not the computer. The computer by itself I will be paying around $950-$1200, not including monitor from HP. If I recall its 12GB with a NVIDA processor.

You might want to look at the beauties that fall in your budget range... CyberPowerPC - UNLEASH THE POWER - Create the Custom Gaming PC and Laptop Computer of your dreams - Don't drool now....

The Power Mega III 1000 looks promising.

I'm not saying you get this brand. If you check out their custom configurations, you'll get to know more of the ins and outs of different models and choices...... and get to base your buying decision on what you really need based on your proficiency and what you plan to do.

If you look around for a 3770k / GT680 card configuration, it might be cheaper and the speed is slightly lower than the newer 4770k . I'm not that fully convinced with the capability if its Z87 MOBOS. Unless someone has the latest performance feedback on them.

You mentioned 12 gbs... RAM? 4g x 3.... rather odd.

And PS for $300.. than means an older version - CS4 or 5 .... CS6 alone is about $400+ at Amazon.

With a student / teacher ID you can get CS6 for $349.00 vs $699.00 without...or you get Elements for a lot less

I think I can stretch out my budget to $400. You say amazon? I will have to check it out, thanks.

By the way, how much of a difference is the CS6 from the ole 4, and 5?

With what you intend to do, go for the i7 Quad Core. You may have limitations in using PS for video editing. So it may be advisable to add in a robust, video editing software. It's just me, but it would be better to go to full 16g ram rather than just 12.

I'm still on CS4 but certainly will upgrade in near future. It's a huge leap to CS6. I would suggest spending on the latest and last of the CS line rather than the older versions. In that way, adapting to the newest CC line would be easier in the event you decide to take the plunge to be up to date.

Sorry for the late reply gents, but for some strange reason, emails from this site are going straight to the spam box.

dv8, for some reason my gutt fealing said to go with the 16g. I wonder how much more is that. I will have to check it out, and most likely I will have to go that route, better to be safe than sorry.

Hi, sorry for the late reply.

Yes, I have tried that, but with no success.

Any other suggestions?

Sorry for the inconviences, gents.
