Ok we all get virus alerts but this 1 is spreading the problem is there is no cure for it once it is on your system it makes everything unusable, and once you have removed the virus it keeps your files all encrypted and forces you to pay anywhere between $100 and $1000 (so far recorded) to unlock your files. This is ransomware. And there is not 100% certainty if you pay the ransom you will get a decryption key

Virus name Crypto Locker
ways of infected your system
Clones emails from reputable companies such as your bank saying we have intercepted suspicious behavior on your computer can you please verify these transactions etc.

Fedex/Ups missed delivery

Florist delivery Missed delivery

And in all fairness can be disguised as anything.

Most updated major anti viruses will lock down your system so they cant be hijacked but not guaranteed like anything viruses evolve to be 1 step ahead of security and anti viruses update based on infections already out flooding the web.

Here is a tool that can also prevent it infecting your computer ......
( replace the asterisks with s - h - i - t in your browser's navigation field )

here

And there are Rumours of a Mac version as well however not seen any prevention or tools to remove it yet for them.
PLEASE NOTE THE LINKS I HAVE PROVIDED ARE SAFE, HOWEVER ALREADY INFECTED MACHINES MAY HAVE REDIRECTS (browser Hijacker) THAT MAY ACTUALLY REDIRECT YOU TO A MALWARE SITE SO BE VIGILANT.

CryptoLocker
Classification Trojan horse
Type Ransomware
Subtype Cryptovirus
Operating system(s) affected Windows

Nope I have just infected a scrap laptop with it though to see how hard it is to remove or decrypt. but will be a while before I have any news on it and lets be honest their are huge teams working on a fix and they will have 1 way before me.
