Hey everyone.
I'm brand new to this forum and am also a newbie PS user. I have a project I'm trying to do for myself but am not Skilled at all as far as using this program.
I basically am making labels and have a template made in photoshop for the labels. Can anyone recommend a good place to start as far as learning to make images for my labels. I need to learn how to fill in different colors, make real looking knobs, add text box, make borders. I've attached a picture of basically what I'm trying to accomplish

If anyone can kinda point me in the right direction as far as where to start, tutorials, if someone wants to offer any help and assistance that would be excellent.

Thanks so much.

Hi BR, you've covered a lot of material here as far as what you would like to learn. The best advice I can offer is to simply do a web search for the subject matter you would like to learn, such as, "Photoshop How to make real looking knobs".

I also will do image search's on subjects as long as you start your search with.......Photoshop borders..........and then look to see if any of the images are similar to what I want to learn.

We are all willing to help you here as well, just narrow your inquiry to one technique. What would you like to learn first?

I made a pretty in looking knob.
One thing I'm having trouble with is probably something very simple. But I can't figure out how to make those diagonal lines in different thicknesses. I can make the lines but they always come out jagged looking and I can't make them thicker. If I hold shift it makes it nice and straight it then they only seem to go vertically and horizontally.
Plus the color never seems right when I make lines. It always seems very transparent.

Hey Bolt, here is the first step by step. I will add more when your ready.

1. Create a new document in Ps. Fill with the color of choice. This will be your background layer.

2. From the Tool Box, select the Rounded Rectangle Tool (U) set the Tool Mode to Shape. Set the Stroke to off. Set the radius to 70%.

Create a rectangle. Double click it's thumbnail to change it's color if needed.

3. Next, let's center the shape. With the rectangle layer highlighted, choose the Move Tool (V), hit command/control + A to select all, use the Alignment Icons to align the vertical centers and the horizontal centers. Then hit command/control + D to deselect.

4. With the rectangle layer highlighted, go to your Shape Tools, click and hold until the sub menu expands and choose the Line Tool. In the Tools Menu Bar under the Path Operations icon, set to Subtract From Shape. Also in the Tools Menu Bar, set the line weight to 0.7 cm.

Next, Place your cursor over a starting point, click, hold, and drag the "line" to where you want it then release the click. Repeat this step with as many lines and widths (weight) as you desire.

5. The final step in this part of the tutorial, is to click on the Path Operations icon and select Merge Shape Components.

Your end product should look like this……..
