Hi folks,

I am looking to create a logo for our ball team... We are called the "Fur Traders". We are in the process of getting our uniforms done, when the company told us we couldnt use the origional image because it was TM.

So back to square one.

We found a image that we think will work good, but need to make some changes to it.

I was thinking of having the beaver holding a baseball bat wearing a racoon skin cap.

So my question is, do I need to find the body of the mascot first, then add the head we found, then add the bat and the hat???

Your guidance is appreciated! Below is the photo we want to start with...

Hi wastedrocco welcome to the forums.

And yes you got that right, that's what is called an "image manipulation or composition" basically make one picture out off 2 or more individual images.

Or if you got some painting skills "unlike me lol", you can draw it instead.

found you something that could help
Image Compositing in Photoshop

Ball Logo- Design4.jpg

So this is what I have done... One thing I had trouble with is doing the outline around the top of the head... couldnt seem to get it straight... I have jittery hands

But overall, what do you guys think? What would you change?

That's a great logo, wastedrocco. Hope you don't mind I grab a copy and see what I can help you with. But I can only post back tomorrow.

Ya the outline around the face had to go.

Thanks! It's for our mens slo-pitch team.

I don't mind at all... I have to get it to Rover Plus Nine sometime today so they can get going on our uni's... so hopefully I can try the burn tool tonight to see what it does...

Create a mask on the face layer.
Press D to set the colors to default Black and White.
Use the X key to switch back and forth from Black to White as needed.

Make the mask active and with a black brush paint out the white line.
If you make a mistake or go to far press the X key and paint it back in with white.

On a Mask layer "Black reviles, White conceals"

In this case you're reveling the areas of the body layer.

Wow, if this is your first attempt at photoshop, you may have found your nitch. That is awesome work you have done.

Thanks! I downloaded it yesterday to start playing with it to see what I could do now that we had to change logo's... The tutorial Steve posted helped a lot with the layers, and understanding the basics...
