New system...need version advice

I used to use photoshop 5.0 on my mac G4. Now I have a new mac mini os 10.5.6 and have been told that it won't acknowledge my old software at all if I try to install.

I can't spring for CS4 right now, so I'd like to know which of the older photoshop programs will run efficiently on my system.

Any advice will be appreciated.
