Hi

If I create let's say multiple snapshot as I go further, will I find these snapshots in the history panel once I save and close the whole document?

Thx

oops i messed up

History states are not normally saved with the files, but you can turn this option on in the General Preferences, in the History Log section. I'm sure the Help files can enlighten you on what the different options do.

By going to PREFERENCES > GENERAL > HISTORY LOG, you can can save your history as metadata, text, or both. This allows you to save the history as information and NOT the actual history states, you could not use this to revert back to any of the changes you made in the original session. History states are saved in ram and they vanish as soon as you close a document.

An old common practice was to save your document after a few steps (state changes) in successive numerical order, such as document_01, document_02, etc., so that you can go back to a previous state if needed.

Have you looked at Layer Comps? You can save Layer Comps as a script (pdf or psd). Depending on why you want to save history states, it might be helpful.
