New PC for CS3

Hello,
I am a Graphic designer and Photographer in need of assistance in choosing a new CS3 PC.

I have been looking at a Q6600 based unit with 4GB RAM and am not sure whether or not to invest heavily on a new VGA card too.

Would i be better waiting until i7 based parts or more affordable?

I currently have an Athlon 3000+ 896MB and on board video.

I wouldn't buy the i7, only because, switch requires all new components and is a new technology, and parts for x86-64 are over priced, its funny how most comps still are 32bit and we already have 128 bit obsolete is coming faster then a speeding bullet

But I think with the Q6600 ur on the right track, I would get a video card of somesort a good one is between 60-100 depending on slot and brand
