:question:I have just joined having stumbled across this site after trying vainly all day to find the correct plugin for my photoshop 6 version 3.1 on the adobe website. I have a canon 350D but all the plugins fail to work, so 'Allo 'Allo to one and all and can anyone help me?

Are you saying PS6 does not recognize your camera? PS6 is an old version and if the camera is newer than the software, it will not.

Hello Guru, thank you for such a swift response. I believe the camera was launched in 2005, I am able to use the raw file (.cr) with the canon digital professional application, but I would like to use the tools in PS6 for greater editing facilities, looks like I will have to upgrade my photoshop then?

Unfortunately Adobe does not update their old software to be compatable with newer cameras. If you have the resources to upgrade to the latest version do so, it will be a very worthwhile upgrade for you. There have been so many improvements since PS6, you will be very pleased.

Hello hawkeye, again, I have just realised that I was a bit short in the information I gave, in that I am not trying to open CR files from the camera but from a folder in the computer, although I would surmise that it is the file characteristics that causes the problem in Raw for for PS6

Hm, isn't that what the adobe DNG Converter is for? It will allow you to convert your RAW file to a DNG file which perhaps your PS 6 will recognise.
But be sure you keep a backup of the original because it will change the image file type and probably will not work again with canon digital professional application!!

I think you will find you may need the canons dng convertor should come on a software disc with your camera. Alternatively from the canon website.
