Blurred Edges Effect Advice?

Hi everyone

First post on the site so apologies if I have posted in the wrong section.

I'm also a novice in Photoshop and have a query as to how to achieve the effect on the attached image RAPSINGER 2.PNG

Someone produced this from an initial website screen grab (RAPSINGER.PNG) which they then altered to this image (GLOWINGEDGES.JPG) and can't recall how this was achieved. They have suggested the 'blurred edges' effect incorrectly so apologies if I have got this wrong.

Any help greatly appreciated

go to filters and to Stylize and glowing edges (try numbers 2 ; 5 ; 5)
Hi
Thanks for the reply and advice. That setting gets me to the midway effect (GLOWING EDGES.jpg) thank you. However, I'm trying to recreate the effect that has the image even further broken down in the imageRAP SINGER 2.png (RAP SINGER 2.png).

Thanks for your help and patience.

I wonder if this is a plugin filter or maybe a texture laid over it. It would have to be masking parts of the image to get this pebble result or shrinking their borders. Maybe isolating the colors as selections and modify>contract on the selections. Add layer mask. Add a black layer below. Maybe add white strokes to the selections as a layer fx option.

I tried my above idea; the second one. Didn't work very well to get that exact effect which is very cool.

Hi

Thanks very much for taking the time - I think that maybe the person who did the original may have given me the wrong information re blurred edges as I can't repeat the effect as well.

Thanks once again for trying. I'll keep investigating!
