i am glad that i have found this site. but i need to do something in photoshop elements that i do not know how to do. i was told its called layers. but what kind of layers is used to make a silent movie intertitle card. i have the background piece. but i need to get the border/lace part off of the other pic. and onto the background piece.

let see if I understand, you need one part of image, attached to another?

You'll have to select the border, then copy and paste into the other image. It will then be on it's own layer above the background layer.

is there a Way that i can Attach Pics Here. so i can show what i am Trying To Do. i'm trying to find out the name of the Layers. or what it is called that i am trying to do

it looks like you are just framing a picture is all, there is no name for it unless you and add a name to each layer

Just open both images in Photoshop, and duplicate the image you need to put inside that black frame by choosing Layer --> Duplicate Layer... and choose to duplicate it onto the black frame image. Then you can use Edit --> Transform --> Scale to make it the proper size within the frame.

iDad i have a Teach Yourself Visually book. but it has over 20 different titles for Layers. Tron how can i get both in. i'm on a Mac. and the way i have been importing the Pics. is thru iPhoto and this is only for one pic. at a time is it not ?

if thats what they call it yes. in my book there are a lot of different types of layers. i'm going to print the page out here and do what tron. suggested to do i know it cant be that hard once you know what to do.

Thank You

i think i have Part of it Done. but for some reason. when i put it in. iPhoto it is in iPhoto nut it is not there. if i go into iMovie. and try to get it. What am i doing Wrong here ?

Sorry I am not sure I know what you are asking.

After you have it looking right in Photoshop, save it as a JPG and any other program should be able to read it just fine.

Tron i had it nice looking. in PhotoShop. then saved it to my Desktop. i did not know that when. i made them in PhotoShop. i had them made as a PNG. when i had them in iPhoto i Exported them to my Desktop as a JPG file. i then re put them back into iPhoto. this solved the problem. of me not being able to put the pics. into iMovie. Now all i have to do is figure out. how to remove that border. from the First pic. i posted. also Thank You and Everyone who Helped.

When you are working in Photoshop you should always save a PSD copy of the file that you can come back to to make changes. When you want to work with them in another program like iPhoto or iMovie you should save a copy as JPG or PNG to work in another program with. Some programs allow you to import PSD files, but not many.
