Hey guys.
I'm new here :). I'm 16 I've been using Photoshop for some time now, mostly for hair/eye color changing, background removal/changing, fixing imperfections, playing with filters, colors etc. , nothing more advanced than that.
This year in High School we started a new subject, Photoshop, and I was surprised when I found out about that. I showed my "skills" during the year and become one of the teacher's favorite students, lol however a week ago a girl that I had in my class told me that she wanted to make a present to her father, a photo with him and the Football player Lionel Messi in the same picture. She gave me the picture, but the thing is that in the picture of her father, she is standing by his side and the photo is taken at night, at her prom. And here's where I need your help.
The thing is that luckily, I have found some pictures of messi wearing a suit, but the pictures of him are a bit more well lit, so what I'm trying to say is that the girl's father's picture is a bid darker. When I cut messi and put him in the same photo with the father, how do I make the layer of messi only darker? I remember there was an option that you played with the numbers and you would lower the contrast/brightness...
Also can you give me some advice, in what background do I put the two of them? It would be nice if they'd be standing next to each other since they're both in suits. I obviously can't put them in a football field. What do you think?
THanks!

Isolate the father first, then place next to old lionel and play around with settings until they look similar, then think about the background and matching the two people to that, try it and show us your results?

So, I need to cut the father first and then place him in Lionel's original picture? But then, do I need to cut the two of them again, and place them in another background? Is this what you were trying to say? If yes, why do I need to place the father with Lionel first, then cut the two of them and put them in another background? I mean, shouldn't I directly skip to the part where I cut both of them and put them in another background?
Sorry if this wasn't what you meant to say, English is not my native language :$
One more thing, I said that in the picture that she gave me, the girl was standing next to his father, and if I isolate/crop the father, one arm of his wont show, since he is keeping both hands in his pocket and the whole left arm, the one that wont show, is blocked by the girl... Is there anything I can do with this? Can i actually select the other arm that looks normal, copy it and paste it, flip it and put it on the missing arm's place? Or would that look to obvious?

Why don't you post the two pictures so we can see what you have to do. There are several ways to adjust a picture from day to night and vice versa. It seems that this is where you need guidance the most.
